(volkswagen) is recalling certain front-wheel drive 2015-2020 audi a3 sedan, 2015-2019 audi a3 cabriolet, 2019-2020 volkswagen jetta gli, 2018 golf sportwagen gp, 2018-2019 golf sportwagen a7, 2015-2017 golf sportwagen, 2015-2020 golf gti, and 2015-2020 golf a7 vehicles. Due to a problem with a suction jet pump seal inside the fuel tank, fuel may flow into the evaporative emissions (evap) system and possibly leak out of the charcoal canister.
  dealers will replace the suction pump, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters explaining the safety risk were mailed april 10, 2024. The tire pressure monitoring system may not detect an air pressure loss in adequate time when deflating occurs among all four tires simultaneously. • Recall 153269 [USA]: Removing the key while the shift lever is in a position other than "park" increases the risk of an unintended vehicle rollaway that may result in personal injury or a crash.

(volkswagen) is recalling certain 2015-2019 gti, 2015-2016 and 2018-2019 golf, 2012-2019 beetle and beetle convertible, 2017-2019 golf sportwagen and 2011-2018 jetta vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, manual handbrake and keyless entry. A build-up of silicate on the shift lever micro switch contacts may enable the key to be removed from the ignition when the transmission shift lever is not in "park."

  Issue: on certain models, the chrome layer could peel off of the trim located around the gear shift cover. If this happens, sharp edges can be created. Safety risk: exposed sharp edges can create the risk of a cut. Corrective actions: volkswagen will contact owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the gear shift cover trim frame.

• Recall 2019423 [Canada]: Powertrain
  Issue: on certain vehicles, a build-up of silicate on the shift lever switch could cause the transmission to detect that it is in the park position when it isn't. This could allow the ignition key to be removed when the transmission is not in the park position. If the parking brake is not applied, this could allow the car to roll away. Safety risk: if the transmission position is not displayed correctly, a user may not know that the vehicle is not in the park position. If the parking brake is not applied, this could create a risk of a vehicle roll-away and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: the company will notify owners by mail. Owners will be instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to have a new shift lever micro switch and control unit installed.

• Vehicle stalling - manual transmission investigation # DP19003

  The office of defects investigation (odi) has completed its review of a defect petition received on 14 august 2019 requesting an investigation of an alleged defect of the manual transmissions in model year (my) 2019 volkswagen (vw) gti, golf gti and jetta gli vehicles. The stalling incidents cited occurred without warning as the vehicle slows to a stop or prepares to make a turn across traffic with the clutch pressed in and the vehicle in neutral.The hazard posed by a vehicle stalling event is manifested in the inability of the vehicle to move with the flow of surrounding traffic. Two factors have a major impact on the potential hazard to the vehicle, its occupants and surrounding vehicles: the surrounding traffic speed and the subject vehicles restart ability. In the case of the vehicles that are the subject of this petition, restart is immediate and the stalls occur when the vehicle is slowing to stop for a traffic signal, making a turn, or is completely stopped. These circumstances substantially reduce the risk of harm to the vehicle, its occupants and surrounding vehicles.As of march 2, 2020, out of the population of 11,333 subject vehicles, nhtsa has identified 214 consumer complaints in its database, with unique vehicle identification numbers (vin), citing engine stalling as vehicles are being brought to a stop and/or preparing to make a cross traffic turn. When combined with the warranty, field report and customer complaint data received from vw in response to the information request letter sent, nhtsa identified 413 unique vins alleging low speed engine stalling.Volkswagen determined that the low speed / idle engine stall was the result of unwanted gases remaining in the cylinder caused by the intake valve camshaft not being in the correct position at idle. The intake camshaft is in an advanced position. This advanced position results in too much overlap with the position of the exhaust valve camshaft, allowing both the intake and exhaust valves to be open at the same time. The erroneous advanced position of the intake camshaft is a result of low oil pressure at idle and high oil temperatures, greater than or equal to 110°c/230°f combined with engine control algorithms in the engine control module (ecm) that position the intake camshaft. Based on examination of returned engines, only engines manufactured at the silao mexico plant were affected due to a tolerance stack-up issue with the oil system of the engines.In december of 2019, vw initiated a service action (24fd) to remedy the stalling issue in the affected vehicles. The warranty for the affected vehicles was extended to december 31, 2025. The software in the engine control module (ecm) will be updated with a new calibration value for the adaptation nodes of the regulation valve. This is a directed action with letters being sent to vehicle owners asking them to bring their vehicles to their dealership to have the software update installed in their vehicle. The letters were sent in december 2019.After thoroughly assessing the material submitted by the petitioner, information already in nhtsas possession, information submitted by volkswagen in response to an information request and the potential risks to safety implicated by the petitioners allegation, nhtsa does not believe that the stalling condition as alleged by the petitioner indicates the likelihood of a safety related defect that would warrant a formal investigation, therefore the petition is denied. While driving on highway at approx. 75mph, my 2019 volkswagen gti se panoramic sunroof spontaneously exploded. I heard a very loud bang followed by shattered glass falling into the car. The entire sunroof had shattered and a very large hole (approx. 1' x 1.5' large) near the front of sunroof was present. I did not see anything hit the sunroof. Given the loud bang and the extent of damage to the sunroof, i find it difficult to believe a rock or some other object hit the sunroof.

As i slowed down coming to a stop sign, i put the car in neutral. When i came to a complete stop, the engine shut off as if it was an auto off/auto on feature. My gti has a manual transmission. It will occasionally stall while coming to a stop even though the clutch pedal is fully depressed. It has happened with the gear shift in reverse as well as in neutral, in either case the clutch pedal was fully depressed and it shouldn't be stalling in these circumstances.

Car stalls at low speeds, particularly coming to a stop. Happens with clutch in or in neutral. Has been happening since day 1 of ownership of brand new vehicle with 80 miles on odometer. Continues at 10 months of ownership with 6k miles on odo. The problem is intermittent. It did not occur for 6 months between december 2019 and june 2nd 2020. On june 3rd vw installed 24fd update.
