Production Solution
Improved bevel box design used in vehicle production as of March 26th 2021.
Service
If the bevel box leak is confirmed to be from between the case halves, perform the following steps:
Note:
The repair described here applies to bevel box 0A6 only.
If the source of the leak is not from the case halves, this TB does not apply.
 Remove the bevel box per ElsaPro instructions.
 Clean the exterior of the bevel box of any leaked gear oil using a residue free cleaner.
 Remove old sealant from the exterior of the bevel box in the area where new exterior sealant will be
applied as see in Figure 3, (between red lines and yellow arrows).
Tip:
A scraper or razor can be used to remove old sealant from the surface of the bevel box.
Figure 3.
 Using silicone sealant part number D 174 003 M2, apply a 10 mm wide 3mm high bead of silicone
sealant on the case halves in the area shown in Figure 3.

 Also apply a continuous bead of the silicone sealant to the face of the two bolt holes seen in Figure 4.
Note:
Ensure that the silicone sealant is applied as pictured in Figure 4. Only apply silicone sealant to
the outer surface of the bevel box and do not allow silicone sealant to get into the bolt holes or
threads as reassembly will be difficult.
Figure 4.
 Allow the silicone sealant to cure for at least two hours, reassemble the bevel box into the vehicle per
ElsaPro instruction, road test and check for any further signs of leakage.
Note:
Due to the gear oil leak, the bevel box fluid level will need to be checked and if needed topped up.
 If leaking continues, contact the Volkswagen Technicians Helpline.
