Technical Service Bulletin Mazda North American Operations Irvine, CA 92618-2922 Subject: STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES AT IDLE Bulletin No.: 06-003/20 Last Issued: 07/21/2020 APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS US Spec.: 2017-2020 CX-5 vehicles with VINs lower than JM3KF******796943 (produced before Feb. 3, 2020) 2019-2020 CX-9 2018-2020 Mazda6 Mexico Spec.: 2019-2020 CX-5 vehicles with VINs lower than JM3KF******796943 (produced before Feb. 3, 2020) 2019-2020 CX-9 2018-2020 Mazda6 DESCRIPTION Some customers may complain of a steering wheel vibration (in a rotational direction), when they are not holding onto the steering wheel. The vibration stops when holding onto the steering wheel or when driving. This may be caused by improper control logic of the EPS control module. To eliminate this concern, the EPS control logic has been modified. Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure. REPAIR PROCEDURE 1. Verify the customer concern. 2. Replace the EPS control module (EPS CM) with a modified one according to the instructions on MGSS online: CX-5: STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION CX-9: STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION Mazda6: STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION 3.
