Service 1. Inspect the front of the vehicle for any signs of damage or impact. If any external damage is found, this TSB does not apply. 2. Before proceeding, confirm that DTC B201000 (no basic settings) is stored in the night vision control module, J853 (address word 0084). If the DTC is not stored, this TSB does not apply. 3. Perform calibration of the night vision control module, J853 (address word 0084) via GFF. Reference the Elsa Repair Manual for full instructions on the calibration of the infrared system. 4. Following the calibration, one of five messages will be displayed on the diagnostic tester: “Calibration tool not found”: Recheck the setup of the night vision calibration tool to the vehicle as outlined in the Elsa Repair Manual, 44 Wheels, Tires, Wheel Alignment >> Infrared System >> Infrared System, Calibrating. Perform the calibration a second time. If “Calibration tool not found” message returns, perform diagnostics outside of this TSB. “Rolling angle incorrect”: Perform the adjustment a second time. If “Rolling angle incorrect” message returns after calibration, inspect the night vision camera for any damage. This TSB does not apply. “Calibration not successful”: If the measurement angles of the night vision system are outside the required specifications after performing a calibration, this message will appear. Perform the adjustment a second time. If this message returns, check the vehicle for signs of damage. This TSB does not apply. “Calibration successful” The calibrated pitch angle displayed on the tester is: +0.8° or lower: No further work is needed. This TSB does not apply. +0.9° to +1.9°: Write down the displayed angles as they will be needed later. Continue with TSB. 5. Two spacers (part number N01152322) will be placed between the grill and night vision camera mounting bracket at the upper mounting points to adjust the angle of the night vision camera. Note: RS 7 or vehicles with radiator shutter will require the removal of the front cover to perform the installation of spacers. In all other vehicles, it is possible to complete the installation without removal of the front cover. Page 2 of 7 © 2020 Audi of America, Inc. All rights reserved. Tip: Do not remove or loosen the four screws that hold the camera onto the camera mounting bracket, these are shown in the image with red dotted arrows. Figure 1. Night vision camera mounting bracket screw retainer locations 1, 2, 3, and 4. Loosen screws 1, 2, 3, and 4. Do not remove or loosen the four screws holding the camera to the bracket. 7. Place a single spacer, part number N01152322, between each of the two upper mounting points that secure the night vision camera bracket to the radiator grille. These screws are shown in the above image as points 1 and 2 (Figure 1). The image below (Figure 2) references these points on the radiator grill as 1 and 2. The next image (Figure 3) shows the placement of the spacer on the camera as points 1 and 2, the camera has been removed for clarity. Page 3 of 7 © 2020 Audi of America, Inc. All rights reserved. After positioning the two spacers between the night vision cameras upper mount points and the radiator grille, torque all four screws to 2.5Nm. 9. Perform the calibration of the night vision system once again. Following the calibration, the new final pitch angles displayed by the tester should be between 0.3° and 1° less than the original values recorded. A final pitch value between +0.5° and +1.1° is acceptable. 10. If this is an RS 7 model, additional systems must also be calibrated due to the removal of the front bumper.
