In conjunction with the Michigan Department of State, Volkswagen will be sending Takata
airbag recall reminder notices to approximately 3,000 Volkswagen owners in the State
of Michigan on August 10, 2020.
A copy of the owner notification is attached for your reference.
Please make every effort to quickly schedule owners who contact your dealership for a
repair appointment.
Parts Department: Parts are available.
Please coordinate with your service department to ensure that parts are on hand to
support all scheduled appointments.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: VEHICLES AFFECTED BY SAFETY & COMPLIANCE RECALLS
New Vehicles in Dealer Inventory: It is a violation of federal law for a dealer to deliver a new
motor vehicle or any new or used item of motor vehicle equipment (including a tire) covered by
this notification under a sale or lease until the defect or noncompliance is remedied. By law,
dealers must correct, prior to delivery for sale or lease, any vehicle that fails to comply with an
applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard or that contains a defect relating to motor
vehicle safety.
Pre-Owned Vehicles in Dealer Inventory: Dealers should not deliver any pre-owned vehicles in
their inventory which are involved in a safety or compliance recall until the defect has been
remedied.

Volkswagen is one of 19 vehicle manufacturers affected by this urgent airbag safety recall. The National
Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports 16 confirmed deaths in the United States and
hundreds of alleged injuries resulting from this defect.
