Issue: Some 2015-2019 Transit vehicles equipped with a 3.2L engine, 2018-2020 F-150 vehicles
equipped with a 3.0L engine, 2017-2020 Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine built on or after
13-May-2017 may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code

particulate filter (DPF) substrate. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to replace
the DPF.
Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition on vehicles that meet all of the
following criteria:
• One of the following vehicles:

- 2018-2020 F-150 with 3.0L engine
- 2017-2020 Super Duty with 6.7L engine and built on or after 13-May-2017
• DTC P2002 is stored in the PCM
NOTE: Part quantity refers to the number of that service part number required, which may be
different than the number of individual pieces. Service part numbers contain 1 piece unless

Correct any other DTCs other than P2002 before performing this article.
1. Check for DTCs. Is P2002 the only DTC stored in PCM memory?
(1). Yes - proceed to Step 2.
(2). No - refer to the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual for all other DTCs
through normal diagnostics first. Then proceed to Step 2 for DTC P2002.
2. Replace the catalyst and particulate filter assembly. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 309-00.
