It informs the Technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or provides information that could assist in correct vehicle and diagnostic service. On reading the vehicle DTCs using the Land Rover approved diagnostic tool (Pathfinder) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0C48-39 (Hybrid/EV Battery Pack Coolant Pump "A" Control Circuit Low) and/or P0C47-31 (Hybrid/EV Battery Pack Coolant Pump “A” Control Circuit/Open) are identified in the Battery Energy Control Module (BECM) This concern affects plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) as follows Range Rover (LG) – 2018 Model Year – Vin Range 343646 to 399865 Range Rover (LG) – 2020 Model Year – Vin Range: 400068 to 413723 Range Rover (LG) – 2018-2020 Model Year – Vin Range: 500016 to 599096 Range Rover Sport (LW) – 2018 Model Year – Vin Range: 146054 to 199986 Range Rover Sport (LW) – 2020 Model Year – Vin Range: 700004 to 746427 Range Rover Sport (LW) – 2018-2020 Model Year – Vin Range: 800038 to 899997 NOTE: This Special Service Message (SSM) will act as an interim communication. The release of a Technical Service Bulletin will supersede this SSM in the near future. Cause: Software diagnostic error. Action: To resolve the issue detailed in this SSM please follow the diagnostic instruction below. CAUTION: This procedure requires a minimum of Pathfinder 293 loaded or later. Connect the JLR approved battery support unit. 2. Connect the JLR approved diagnostic equipment to the vehicle and begin a new session. 3. Follow the JLR approved diagnostic equipment prompts. 4. Select 'ECU Diagnostics'. 5. Select 'Battery Energy Control Module [BECM]'. 6. Select 'Update ECU'. 7. Follow all on-screen instructions to complete the task. 8. If required, reset the vehicle to ‘Transportation mode’. 9. When all of the tasks are complete, exit the session. 10. Disconnect the JLR approved diagnostic equipment and the JLR approved battery support unit.
