Today, September 29, 2020, Acura is announcing a warranty extension for certain 2016-2018 ILX vehicles
with Catalina Blue Pearl or Bright Kine c Blue Pearl paint to address client concerns with peeling paint
around the front and/or rear windshield glass. Acura is extending the paint warranty coverage to 8
years/unlimited mileage.
BACKGROUND
Some 2016-2018 ILX vehicles that were originally painted Catalina Blue Pearl or Bright Kine c Blue Pearl
may be suscep ble to peeling due to insuﬃcient paint thickness at certain areas around the front
and/or rear windshield glass. Due to this condi on, UV rays could penetrate to the underlayer, causing
oxida on and leading to paint peel.
REPAIR
Inspect the vehicle and, if necessary, have a ProFirst Cer ﬁed Body Shop repaint the aﬀected panel(s).
Also, be aware that DPSM approval is needed before comple ng any work.
PARTS
If needed, replacement moldings or clips are available for ordering. Refer to the parts catalog for
applicable part numbers.
TOOLS
There are no special tools or equipment required for this repair.
SERVICE BULLETIN
Service bulle n 20-047, Warranty Extension: B-612P Catalina Blue Pearl or Bright Kine c Blue Pearl Paint, has
been posted to the Service Informa on System (SIS) as of September 29, 2020. It includes warranty,
inspec on, and repair procedure informa on related to this warranty extension.
CLIENT NOTIFICATION
Acura expects to begin client no ﬁca on in early November 2020.
