Some technicians may find the PCV drain tube installed during an engine repair.

⇒ General Motors has determined that the PCV drain tube is not needed and it
will be deleted mid-year 2019 and forward. Please be advised you will no
longer see this tube when doing an engine service on these engines.
If the PCV drain tube on any SGE engine needs to be replaced, the tube is no longer
available and replacement of the tube is no longer required.
⇒ Discard the old tube and replace the drain tube bolt with a shorter bolt to
retain the crankcase oil deflector.

Service Procedure

Note: It is very important that you use the shorter bolt if
you discard the PCV drain tube.
1. Remove the bolt (1) that secures the PCV drain
tube (2) to the crankshaft deflector and bedplate.
Note: The crankshaft deflector does not need to be
removed.
2. Using care, remove the PCV drain tube assembly
from the bedplate and discard.
3. Install the new shorter bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 15 Y (11 lb ft).
