Condition
Customer states:
 The airbag and/or the seat belt warning lights are on, the PODS indicator light is displaying incorrectly.
Workshop findings:
The following DTC’s are stored in the airbag control module, J234, (address word 0015):
 DTC B12251B (Seat occupied recognition sensor mat resistance too high).
 DTC B102229 (Passenger occupant detection system control module Implausible signal).

1. Connect vehicle to ODIS Service and perform a diagnostic scan with GFF confirming that the DTC’s
B12251B and B102229 are stored in the airbag control module.
Note:
This TSB only covers repairs related to the DTC’s B12251B and B102229. Do not follow this TSB for
claims caused by outside influence (e.g. water/coffee spills, electronic devices on seat).
2. Check if the Safety Campaign 69Z4 has already been completed.
Note:
If the Safety Campaign 69Z4 is still open and has not been completed, do not follow this TSB. Instead
proceed to complete the Safety Campaign 69Z4.
3. If the Safety Campaign 69Z4 has already been completed, proceed to install a PODS Repair Kit
(PODS sensor mat and PODS module) as outlined in the repair manual in ElsaPro.
4. Erase all DTC’s stored in the airbag control module and test drive the vehicle.
5. Connect vehicle to ODIS Service and perform a diagnostic scan with GFF.
6. Release the vehicle to the customer if no DTC’s are stored in the airbag control module.

Defect parts will be requested for analysis. Please handle parts with care during removal and shipping.
