 Degrease the perimeter of the seat for the Lexan
screen on the engine compartment lid using
BETACLEAN 3350 and a BRAG BOX WYPALL
X40 wipe. Use a new wipe for each vehicle – Fig
17.
 Wipe the seat again with a new wipe and wait 3
minutes for the area to dry completely – Fig 17.
 Shake a can of BP 5405 primer until the steel
balls inside the container can be heard to be
moving freely, and then spray a uniform coat
around the perimeter using the specific
applicator – Fig 17.
Fig. 17
- IMPORTANT Never apply primer wet-on-wet: leave to dry for at least 10 minutes before applying a
new coat
 Remove the protective film from the new Lexan screen.
- IMPORTANT Check the expiration date of the Lexan screen. If the screen has expired, but within the
past 9 months, the primer may be reactivated using Betaclean 3300.
 Use an extrusion nozzle with a triangle notch (A) to apply a bead of BETASEAL TM
1407 around the entire perimeter of the Lexan screen, starting from the right or left hand
at the bottom edge. After completing the perimeter, continue applying sealant directly
below the initial bead for a certain distance before stopping (Fig.18). The bead must
measure 8 mm in width and 14 mm in height (B).

 Do not spread the newly applied bead of sealant with a spatula. The bead must be
flattened by the Lexan panel onto the frame to compress the buffer pads ensuring the
correct gap between the screen and the frame.
- IMPORTANT The Lexan screen must be installed correctly in place on the frame of the engine
compartment lid within 5 minutes of applying the BETASEAL TM 1407.

 Wait at least 4 hours and then use heptane to clean off any residue of sealant from
around the engine compartment lid screen.
