EPB ECU UPDATE FOR DTC C2416 OR C2417
SUBJECT:
Description: This bulletin describes the procedure to update the EPB (Electronic Parking Brake) ECU
to revise the logic of setting DTC C2416, “Motor Short or Open – LH (EPB)” or C2417 “Motor Short or
Open – RH (EPB)” from vibrations while driving on certain roads.
Applicable Vehicles:
 Certain 2019 and 2020MY IONIQ HEV (AE HEV) and PHEV (AE PHEV) vehicles equipped
with an EPB, produced from October 17, 2018 to January 24, 2020.

NOTICE
You must initially perform the GDS ECU Update in Auto Mode.
 If the ECU Update starts but then fails in Auto Mode, perform the update in Manual Mode to
recover.

WARNING
GDS Vehicle Battery Voltage Warning:
If voltage is below 12 volts as per the below GDS warning, then select Back and run the
vehicle for at least 20 minutes to ensure an adequate battery state of charge for reliable
update results. Turn ignition back on, and then retry the ECU update again.
Service Procedure:
1. Perform GDS software update:


Refer to TSB 15-GI-001 for the detailed tablet-based Mobile GDS ECU update
procedures.
Refer to TSB 15-GI-002 for the detailed PC-based GDS ECU update procedures.
2. Check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes in the ALL menus and erase any DTC.
3. Confirm normal vehicle operation.
