Nissan Bulletins are intended for use by qualified technicians, not 'do-it-yourselfers'. Qualified technicians are
properly trained individuals who have the equipment, tools, safety instruction, and know-how to do a job
properly and safely. NOTE: If you believe that a described condition may apply to a particular vehicle, DO
NOT assume that it does. See your Nissan dealer to determine if this applies to your vehicle.

After Soft Top Assembly/Soft Top Cover Outer Replacement
Use the following steps if the soft top assembly will not close after it or the canvas has been
replaced.
CAUTION: Do not operate the soft top when the temperature is below 32°F (0°C). This
may cause damage to the soft top material or operating system. Refer to the Owner’s
Manual for all WARNINGS and CAUTIONS before operating a soft top.
1. Close the soft top as far as it will close on its own.

If the soft top will not go as far as shown in Figure 2, this bulletin does not apply.
Check all work performed during soft top assembly/canvas replacement.
2. With the help of another person, press the “close” switch and pull down the soft top at
the same time until it latches and fully closes (see Figure 2).

3. With the soft top fully closed, place weight evenly between the 2nd and 3rd, and 3rd and
4th bows (see example in figure 3).
CAUTION: Do not put on more than 40 pounds (approximately 18 kilograms) of evenly
distributed weight on the soft top. If weight greater than this amount is used, damage
may occur to the soft top assembly.

Make sure the weights are clean and/or use a clean fender cover or other suitable
cover.

4. Leave the weights on the vehicle for at least four (4) hours.
5. Additional tips/information:
a. Wet the soft top, and then set the vehicle in direct sunlight before adding the
weights.
b. If possible, leave the weights on overnight.
c. To help further “stetch” the canvas, inform the customer the soft top should stay
latched for at least one (1) day before operating.
