370Z ROADSTER; STORAGE LID RUBS
THE FIFTH BOW WHEN OPENING THE SOFT TOP
APPLIED VEHICLE: 2010-2014 370Z Roadster (Z34)
IF YOU CONFIRM:
When opening the soft top, the storage lid
rubs the fifth bow on the left and/or right side.

This issue may not occur every time
the soft top is opened. The vehicle
may have to be parked for a day
before the issue can be duplicated
again.

ACTION:
1. Adjust both soft top pressure links.
2. Lube both pressure link pivot joints.
3. Adjust the storage lid.


SERVICE PROCEDURE
Use the following steps if the storage lid rubs the fifth bow when opening the soft top.
CAUTION: Do not operate the soft top when the temperature is below 32°F (0°C). This
may cause damage to the soft top material or operating system. Refer to the Owner’s
Manual for all WARNINGS and CAUTIONS before operating a soft top.
1. Open the soft top enough to access the pressure links and storage lid hinges.
CAUTION: The storage lid may close due to low oil pressure. Always support the
storage lid assembly to the fully open position using a supporting block.
2. Saturate both pressure link pivot joints with WD-40® or equivalent lubricant (see
Figure 2).
3. Adjust both pressure links:
a. Loosen the lock nut.
b. Turn the coupling nut one (1) full turn counter clockwise.
c. Tighten the lock nut.

3. Adjust both storage lid hinges 0.5 mm (0.020 inches) toward the rear of the vehicle
(see Figure 4).

Storage lid hinge bolts torque: 17.0 N•m (1.7 kg-m, 13 ft lbs)
