Classification: Reference: EC15-015a Date: NTB15-075a September 18, 2015 2006-2015 TITAN; MIL ON WITH DTC P0448 This bulletin has been amended to update the Parts Information and Claims Information tables. Please discard the previous version. APPLIED VEHICLES: 2006 - 2015 Titan (A60) IF YOU CONFIRM: The MIL is ON with DTC P0448 (EVAP canister vent control valve close) stored in the ECM. ACTION: 1. Replace the EVAP canister (canister) and EVAP canister vent control valve (vent control valve). 2. Remove the canister filter. 3. Replace the fuel filler pipe and canister drain hose listed in PARTS INFORMATION. 4. Erase the DTC. IMPORTANT: The purpose of ACTION (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire SERVICE PROCEDURE (starting on page 2) as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair. Nissan Bulletins are intended for use by qualified technicians, not 'do-it-yourselfers'. Qualified technicians are properly trained individuals who have the equipment, tools, safety instruction, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. NOTE: If you believe that a described condition may apply to a particular vehicle, DO NOT assume that it does. See your Nissan dealer to determine if this applies to your vehicle. 1/7 SERVICE PROCEDURE IMPORTANT: Follow all warnings, cautions, and notes in the ESM when working on or near a fuel system and EVAP system components, such as a fuel tank and vent control valve. 1. Remove the following parts from the vehicle: Fuel filler pipe EVAP Canister with vent control valve and EVAP control system pressure sensor (pressure sensor) EVAP Canister drain hose(s) and filter (if equipped) that connect to the vent control valve (Figure 1) If needed, refer to the Electronic Service Manual (ESM), sections EC-Engine Control System and FL-Fuel System (as it applies), for removal procedure. NOTE: o Remove the fuel filler pipe and fuel filler pipe grommet (grommet) together. This makes it easier to remove the fuel filler pipe from the vehicle. o Cover the fuel tank’s rubber filler hose with a clean shop rag or suitable covering, once the fuel filler pipe has been detached from it. o The new canister drain hose (drain hose) replaces the drain hose(s) and filter (if equipped) that connect to the vent control valve (Figure 1). The existing drain hose(s) and filter are not reinstalled. Remove these and do not reuse/reinstall EVAP Canister drain hose EVAP Canister drain hose EVAP Canister filter Figure 1 2/7 NTB15-075a 2. Install the new fuel filler pipe from PARTS INFORMATION. Before installing: Cover the fuel filler pipe opening (grommet end) with a clean shop rag or other suitable covering. Refer to the ESM, section FL-Fuel System, for installation procedure. Make sure the grommet is positioned as shown in Figure 2. NOTE: It is recommended to install the grommet to the body, and then the fuel filler pipe to the grommet. Notch at 12 o’clock position Grommet Hole at 6 o’clock position Figure 2 3/7 NTB15-075a 3. Match the blue paint marks of the two new drain hoses (Figure 3) and then connect them. NOTE: The EVAP canister drain hose comes in two parts: Part 1 is already installed to the new fuel filler pipe assembly (TUBE ASSYFILLER). Part 2 (HOSE-DRAIN, CANISTER) connects to the end of part 1 and is routed to the EVAP canister.
