Symptom/Vehicle Issue: Steering Damper Mounting Information
Customer Complaint/Technician Observation: Steering Damper 68251580AF has
updated mounting to ensure the damper goes on the correct direction (fig 1). The AF
level damper requires a new outboard attachment bolt be installed that features a
longer square shoulder 06513445AA (new in fig 1). As with past practice the bolt must
be replaced every time the damper is serviced.

Prior to installation the damper needs to be purged with the ROD END UP and Body
down. Using long screw drivers or bolts as handles prime the damper full strokes 5
times as shown in fig 2.

Proper installation has the intake bulge position down indicated in fig 3. NOTE>>> this
is critical for proper damper operation.
