Condition
Some customers may comment on a flutter and/or buzz type noise heard from the rear of
the vehicle.
Note: If the noise heard is not exactly as described, this bulletin DOES NOT apply and
normal diagnosis should be done.
Cause
This condition may be caused by noise that has been identified to be internal to the Fuel
Pump Module and occurs during purge with a ¾ tank full or more.
Correction
Verify that the vehicle exhibits the condition described following the procedure listed
below.
Service Procedure
1. Raise the vehicle in the air while the engine is
running. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in SI.
2. Push up in the center of the fuel tank to hear if the
noise goes away.
If the noise goes away, replace the Fuel Tank Fuel
Pump Module Assembly. Refer to Fuel Tank Fuel
Pump Module Replacement in SI.
