Classification: Reference: BR16-001 Date: NTB16-024 March 8, 2016 370Z; 4-PISTON FRONT CALIPER BRAKE JUDDER APPLIED VEHICLES: 2010-2016 370Z Roadster (Z34) 2009-2016 370Z Coupe (Z34) APPLIED VIN AND DATE: 2010-2015 370Z Roadster - ALL 2009-2015 370Z Coupe - ALL 2016 370Z Roadster - JN1AZ4FH(*)GM 910402 / June 20, 2015 2016 370Z Coupe - JN1AZ4EH(*)GM 931943 / June 16, 2015 With 4-piston front calipers as original equipment only IF YOU CONFIRM: “Brake Judder” during braking, especially when braking at highway speeds. Symptoms of “brake judder”: steering wheel shake body vibration brake pedal pulsation IMPORTANT NOTES: If any symptom above occurs when cruising or coasting (not braking), it is not “Brake Judder” and may be tire/wheel related. Refer to ASIST for further diagnostic assistance. DO NOT CONFUSE “Brake Judder” with the rapid consistent-speed pedal pulsation that may be felt and only occurs when ABS is activated during hard braking or on slippery road surfaces. In contrast, the pedal pulsation of “Brake Judder” may occur with light to moderate braking experienced during normal driving conditions, and the pulsation rate will vary (faster or slower) with vehicle speed. ACTION: 1. Inspect the front brake rotors to determine if “machining” (“turning”) is possible or if replacement is necessary. 2. Replace both pad pins in both front 4-piston calipers (see PARTS INFORMATION). 3. Replace the front brake pads (see PARTS INFORMATION). The purpose of ACTION (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire SERVICE PROCEDURE as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair. Nissan Bulletins are intended for use by qualified technicians, not 'do-it-yourselfers'. Qualified technicians are properly trained individuals who have the equipment, tools, safety instruction, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. NOTE: If you believe that a described condition may apply to a particular vehicle, DO NOT assume that it does. See your Nissan dealer to determine if this applies to your vehicle. 1/3 SERVICE PROCEDURE 1. Inspect the front brake rotors to determine if “turning” (“machining”) is possible or if replacement is necessary. Refer to the Electronic Service Manual (ESM), section BR-Brake System, for rotor inspection information. If rotor machining is possible, make sure to use the ProCut PFM Series on-car brake lathe. If rotor replacement is necessary, replace both front rotors as a set. Use the rotor listed in FAST or your electronic parts catalog. 2. Replace the front brake pads (see PARTS INFORMATION). Refer to the ESM, section BR-Brake System, for front brake pad replacement information. 3. Replace both pad pins in both front 4-piston calipers (see PARTS INFORMATION). Refer to the ESM, section BR-Brake System, for 4-piston pad pin replacement information.
