Condition
The customer complains of a brake squealing noise, often while the brakes are not being used. The frequency can be
measured in the range of 1-2 kHz and comes from the brakes on the rear axle.
Technical Background
Corrosion build-up on the inner surface of the brake bell can lead to excess
vibrations that cause a middle-frequency noise to be heard.

Service Information
1. Document the noise with a video and FFT plot.
2. Replace the rear brake discs in accordance with workshop manual WM 465319 – Removing and installing 		
rear brake disc.
- Please use part number 9Y0.615.601.C (left) and 9Y0.615.602 (right).
- Note: All parts ordered after July 9, 2021 will be painted on the inner surface of the brake bell. This paint
prevents excessive corrosion build-up throughout the life of the brake disc.
