Noise Symptom - Unusual Noises from the Front Axle Area While Braking: Observe
Specified Procedure (SY 118/21)
Vehicle Type:
Macan (95B)
Model Year:
As of 2019 up to 2021
Equipment:
Front disc brakes - 17-inch (M-no. 1LA/1LE)
Concerns:
Front brake disc
Symptom:
Unusual noises that sound like worn brakes can be heard from the front axle area while braking.
Cause:
Particles of dirt, e.g. stones or salt (in winter months), can get onto the inner brake pad on the front axle
brake. These particles of dirt cause scoring on the inside of the brake disc on the front axle. As a result,
noises can be heard from the brakes. This problem is most likely to occur during winter months when
many roads are salted.
Remedial
Action:
Check brake discs and brake pads on the inside of the front axle and replace them if necessary.
