Customer states:
 Noises can be heard from the engine compartment/front end when accelerating between 1500 and 2300 rpm.
The noises are described as combustion noises, or as clattering or ticking from the injectors.
Technical Background
The cause of the noise is not necessarily related to engine components.

Not applicable.
Service
There are multiple causes of noise being transmitted from the engine compartment to the interior of the vehicle.
A possible cause of noise being transmitted from the engine compartment is insufficient noise insulation at the
opening for the intermediate steering shaft in the bulkhead.
1. Therefore, check whether the sealing boot is seated correctly
on the intermediate steering shaft and on the bulkhead without
any visible gaps (Figure 1).
Figure 1. Poor sealing on the intermediate
shaft.
2. The noise may also be influenced by the height adjustment of the steering wheel.
3. If a similar condition is found in the vehicle, then proceed with intermediate steering shaft replacement
following instructions according to the Elsa repair manual, Chassis >> Suspension, Wheels, Steering >> 48
Steering >> Steering Column >> Steering Intermediate Steering Shaft, Removing and Installing.
