This may be due to the block heater in the thermostat housing. To correct the condition, install a block heater service kit in the engine block. Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition if the vehicle meets all of the following criteria: • 2015-2019 Transit • 3.7L engine • Equipped with a block heater in the thermostat housing • Coolant leak from thermostat housing Parts Service Part Number Quantity Description KK4Z-6D008-A 1 Block Heater Service Kit VC-13DL-G As Needed Motorcraft® Yellow Concentrated Antifreeze/Coolant (All Markets Except Canada) CVC-13DL-G As Needed Motorcraft® Yellow Concentrated Antifreeze/Coolant (Canada Only) Quantity refers to the amount of the service part number required to repair the vehicle. Repair/Claim Coding Causal Part: 9J447 Condition Code: D8 Service Procedure 1. Remove the existing cooling system block heater and wire harness from the thermostat housing. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-03A. 2. Remove the thermostat housing. Refer to WSM, Section 303-03A. 3. Inspect the thermostat housing, thermostat housing O-ring seal, and intake manifold tube for damage and replace as necessary. Refer to WSM, Section 303-03A. 4. Install the immersion block heater and harness kit. Refer to the instruction sheet included in the kit. 5. Fill and bleed the cooling system.
