RESTRICTIONS: AFFECTED MODELS ARE LINKED BY VIN IN KTM
DEALER.NET
INITIAL INFORMATION:
As a result of our active market monitoring and constant product improvement processes, we have
determined that the items listed below on the 2020 1290 SUPER DUKE R should be inspected and
updated in order to ensure the best functionality.
1. The cables for the exhaust flap may rest on the lock washer of the rear brake reservoir.
2. It is possible that the cables for the exhaust flap rest on the brake line for the rear brake.
3. The screw connection between the front header and the center silencer can become loose under
extreme conditions.
4. Under frequent use, the screw connection on the housing of the spring preload handwheel may become
loose.
5. It is possible that an error message for the exhaust valve control unit may appear because the triggering
threshold is too low. This can trigger emergency mode in certain cases.
PROCEDURE FOR REPAIR:
We shall not provide a description of general workshop methods. Likewise, safety rules that apply in a workshop
are not specified here. It is assumed that the repair work will be performed by a fully trained mechanic with
completed training or a corresponding qualification. In the event of uncertainty, the most recent repair manual
should be consulted.
In the interest of clarity, some components may be shown disassembled or may not be shown at all. It is not
always necessary to disassemble the component to perform the activity in question. Please follow the
instructions in the text.

1. Checking the contact point between the cables and the lock washer of the rear
brake reservoir



Check the lock washer in the area of the SAC cables (Fig. 1).
If severe damage to the lock washer (61713069020) of the reservoir is visible, the lock washer
should be replaced. Note: Create a separate warranty claim with the part number above and 15
minutes working time. The damage must be documented with photos.
If necessary, turn the reservoir to the rear so there is no contact with the cables. For the
tightening torque, see Table 1.
Note: Slight abrasions on the cable only indicate a minor optical defect and do not affect the functionality.
If this is the case, do not replace the cables.
