Power liftgate actuators are being returned for warranty that have damage caused by
improper removal.
Not following the proper procedure to remove the power liftgate actuator.
Damage from prying actuators o shown in photos below.
Cause
Correction:
To properly remove the actuator follow the procedure below.
With the liftgate fully open push the actuator ball socket onto the ball in the direction of the arrow as shown
below.
Make sure that the spring clip is snapped into the closed position, otherwise push the spring in by hand.
Insert at pocket screwdriver behind the clip.
There is no need to remove the clip.
Pull the ball socket o the ball completely.
