Service Technical Information 194/21 ENU 3901 3 Oil Leak on Front-Axle Final Drive (194/21) Vehicle Type: Panamera 4 (971)/Panamera 4S (971)/Panamera Turbo (971)/Panamera Turbo S (971)/Panamera GTS (971) Model Year: As of 2017 Concerns: Oil leaks around the front-axle drive Information: We have discovered that the leak point usually cannot be clearly identified in the customer complaint "Oil leak on front-axle drive". As a result, the front-axle final drive will be replaced without authorization. In most cases, if the complaint "Oil leak on front-axle final drive" is received, this can cause oil to leak from another leakage point. Oil migration from the oil-filter housing area or oil that is next to it can occur, for example. Action required: In the event of a complaint, clean the front-axle final drive or the affected area thoroughly and spray leak-locating spray or powder on it. Then carry out a test drive and correct the identified leak as described in the Workshop Manual. Locate oil leak in front-axle final drive area Work Procedure: Information • Oil leaks must be clearly identifiable and reproducible • Engine oil and coolant must have reached operating temperature during a test drive 1 Removing front underbody cover. Workshop Manual '519219 Removing and installing cover for front underbody cover' 2 Take photos of the complaint for PCSS. 3 Clean the affected area on the front-axle final drive using a suitable cleaning agent. 4 Apply leak-locating spray or powder to possible leakage points. 5 Perform a test drive. 6 Find oil leaks.
