FRM CANNOT BE ENCODED AFTER REPLACEMENT

SITUATION
The footwell module (FRM) cannot be encoded after replacement.
CAUSE
In E92 the front seat safety belt extenders are connected to the FRM via LIN bus. The FRM can only be
encoded if all LIN components are connected and communicating.
The following fault codes may be stored in the FRM preventing coding:
9CD4 - Communication with belt conveyor driver side defective
9CD5 - Communication with belt conveyor Passenger side defective
9CD8 - power supply belt conveyor driver side defect
9CD9 - power supply belt conveyor Passenger side defect
CORRECTION
Should there be connection problems with the safety belt extenders, ISTA may not display fault memories
that indicate functional or connection problems with the extenders.
In the event of a complaint that the FRM cannot be encoded, the safety belt extenders must be checked for
function.
PROCEDURE
Test the safety belt extender for proper functionality.
If the safety belt extender is working properly but the FRM will not encode, contact technical support via a
TSARA case for IRAP assistance
If the safety belt extender is not working properly, check the wires and plug connections and, if necessary,
repair them or replace the corresponding extender
CLAIM INFORMATION
The repair is to be charged to the customer and must not be invoiced under warranty.
