Classification: Reference: BT21-007 Date: NTB22-018 March 14, 2022 MANUAL FRONT SEAT DOES NOT MOVE FORWARD/REARWARD APPLIED VEHICLES: APPLIED DATES APPLIED GRADES: 2018-2020 Kicks (P15) 2020 Versa (N18) Built before October 19, 2020 S, SV, SR IF YOU CONFIRM A manual front seat (driver or passenger side) will not move forward/rearward with the Seat Adjustment Bar at the front of the seat pulled upward, AND One or both ends of the Seat Adjustment Bar are below the seat track tabs (Figure 1) displays one end of the Seat Adjustment Bar below the seat track tab and the other end above the seat track tab (with the seat removed from the vehicle). Incorrect – Seat Adjustment Bar below seat track tab Correct – Seat Adjustment Bar above seat track tab Figure 1 ACTION 1. Replace the Seat Adjustment Bar on the affected seat(s). Refer to the SERVICE PROCEDURE of this bulletin for the repair procedure. IMPORTANT: The purpose of ACTION (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire SERVICE PROCEDURE as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair. Qualified technicians are properly trained individuals who have the equipment, tools, safety instruction, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. NOTE: If you believe that a described condition may apply to a particular vehicle, DO NOT assume that it does. See your Nissan dealer to determine if this applies to your vehicle. 1/6 SERVICE PROCEDURE To avoid serious injury or death, do not tap, hit, or impact the seat in any way during the entire process of this repair. The front passenger seat is equipped with an Occupant Detection System sensor and control module. Do not disassemble the front passenger seat cushion assembly or remove the trim as this will affect the Occupant Detection System’s calibration. 1. Remove the seat from the vehicle. Refer to the ESM: BODY INTERIOR > SEAT > REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION > FRONT SEAT > DRIVER SIDE or PASSENGER SIDE o Before seat removal, turn off the ignition switch, disconnect both battery cables (negative cable first). Wait a minimum of 3 minutes before proceeding, so that the ACC power supply may fully discharge any remaining electricity. o When removing and installing, use suitable covering to protect the vehicle from damage. o Perform seat repairs in a clean work area, such as a work bench with suitable covering. 2. Place the seat on a clean work surface with the backside facing downward. 3. Locate the Seat Adjustment Bar retaining clips. Release some tension on one of the Seat Adjustment Bar retaining clips by pulling on the side of the clip, as shown in Figure 3. Pull outward on Seat Adjustment Bar retaining clip here Figure 3 a. While still pulling on the side of the retaining clip, pull straight up on the Seat Adjustment Bar on the same side of the seat. b. Release the tension on the clip. c. Repeat step 4 for the opposite side of the seat, and then fully remove the Seat Adjustment Bar from the seat. Pull Seat Adjustment Bar upward to remove from seat Figure 4 3/6 NTB22-018 5. Slide a new Seat Adjustment Bar into the seat (see PARTS INFORMATION on the last page). a. Ensure the flat ends of the Seat Adjustment Bar are routed above the seat track tabs when sliding the new Seat Adjustment Bar into the seat. b. You may have to hold the seat track tabs down slightly to clear the Seat Adjustment Bar during installation. c. You will hear a click from each seat track when the Seat Adjustment Bar engages with the retaining clips. d. Ensure the Seat Adjustment Bar will not pull out and that it is fully seated. Ensure the flat ends of the Seat Adjustment Bar are above the seat track tabs here Figure 5 4/6 NTB22-018 e. Ensure the seat track tabs are centered on the flat ends of the Seat Adjustment Bar on both sides, as shown in Figure 6.
