Model(s) Year A6, and A7 2019 – 2021 A6 allroad, S6, and S7 VIN Range Vehicle-Specific Equipment All Not applicable 2020 – 2021 RS 6 Avant, A7 e quattro, and RS 7 2021 Condition Customer states: • The vehicle stops due to a lack of fuel, even though the fuel gauge in the cluster still shows ¼ of a tank or more, and there are miles of range remaining. Workshop findings: • The fuel gauge sender is caught on the fuel line in the main chamber (fuel tank). One or more of the following DTCs may be stored in the engine control module (ECM), J623 (address word 0001): • P008700: Fuel Rail/System Pressure – Too Low. • P046100: Fuel Level Sensor “A” Circuit Range/Performance. • P014800: Fuel Delivery Error. • P102F00: Torque limitation due to fuel pressure. Technical Background The fuel level sender can get caught on internal lines inside the fuel tank causing an inaccurate fuel level to be displayed in the cluster (Figure 1). Figure 1. Technical Service Bulletin Service 1. Remove the fuel pump flange and inspect the inside of the fuel tank for fuel. If no fuel is present, please continue with the procedure outlined below. 2. Install a fuel-resistant cable tie around the suction jet pump supply (green) and the vent (red) lines. When the cable tie is installed, there should be a gap of no more than 5mm between the two internal lines (Figure 2). Note: DO NOT bundle the blue line into the cable tie with the suction jet pump supply and vent lines. Figure 2. Suction jet supply and vent lines. 3.
