REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
2. If the vehicle is already equipped with a wrap or blanket but this bulletin is being
performed because they are damaged, remove the damaged wrap or blanket from the
exhaust pipe.
3. Remove both upstream and downstream Oxygen (O2) sensors.
4. Remove the exhaust pipe. Refer to the procedures identified in
DealerCONNECT>TechCONNECT>Service Info>11 - Exhaust System>PIPE,
Exhaust>Removal>6.7L DIESEL for additional information.
5. Install heat shield (p/n 68102274AA). Refer to the procedures identified in the
Instruction Sheet (p/n K6855747) for additional information.
NOTE: **The O2 sensor heat shield kit P/N 68102274AA contains band clamp P/N
52121859AC. 2010 and 2011 Model year trucks must use a heavier duty
clamp. This clamp part number is 52121859AD. The O2 sensor heat shield kit
will soon be updated to supersede from P/N 52121859AC to 52121859AD.
Once the kit has been updated, it will no longer be necessary to order
turbocharger band clamp 52121859AD separately. Any O2 sensor heat shield
kit P/N 68102274AB and beyond will have the updated clamp.**
6. Install the exhaust pipe. Refer to the procedures identified in
DealerCONNECT>TechCONNECT>Service Info>11 - Exhaust System>PIPE,
Exhaust>Installation>6.7L DIESEL for additional information.
7. Inspect both O2 sensors to ensure that the latest sensors are installed in the vehicle.
O2 sensors that have p/n 05149263AA (or later) scribed on the sensor, (Fig. 2) are the
newer style sensor. If it is difficult to read the part number, the newer style sensor can
easily be identified by the soot shield design on the sensor, (Fig. 3).

8. If the oxygen sensor is not scribed with p/n 05149263AA or newer or if the soot shield
appears as the older style soot shield (as seen in (Fig. 3)), replace the oxygen sensors
with p/n 05149263AA. If the oxygen sensors are to be reused, clean the O2 sensor
using shop air only. Do not use any solvents or cleaners when cleaning the O2
sensor. Torque to 41 N•m (30 ft. lbs). Connect wiring to both of the Oxygen (O2)
sensors.
