word 01).
Technical Background
The circlip connecting the turbo wastegate actuator rod and the wastegate flap lever can fall of due to low tension
of the clip. Consequently, the wastegate linkage becomes disconnected, causing MIL on and DTC P029900.

Clip from improved material with higher tension.

Service
1. Visually check that the wastegate linkage is
disconnected (Figure 1) before proceeding with
the help of a mirror or boroscope. If this is not the
case, this bulletin does not apply.

2. Remove catalyst according to ELSA instructions
to gain access to turbocharger wastegate linkage.
3. Reconnect wastegate linkage and secure with a
new circlip (separately available in ETKA).
Note:
It is not necessary to replace the turbocharger
itself. Claims are subject to review or audit by
Audi Warranty.
4. Clear fault codes.
