cruise control.
Action
Information Only
Use this information to determine if fault codes 86-2 and 595-2 can be ignored or require troubleshooting.
Affected chassis can be released if these are the only faults active.
Background
On certain TX-8 transmissions without cruise control (or cruise control disabled), fault codes 86-2 (CAN
communication – Message CCVS1 signal not available or incorrect – Cruise Control Set Speed – from VECU) and
595-2 (CAN communication – Message CCVS1 signal not available or incorrect – Cruise Control Active – from VECU)
may set due to the transmission software expecting signals from the cruise control. These fault codes are only
visible using DAVIE4 or Cummins INSITE™ and do not affect the transmission operation. Vehicles can be operated
normally with the fault codes active. No dash lights, warnings, or operation problems will be caused by these fault
codes.
Procedure
Please follow your dealership's safety procedures and precautions to ensure the vehicle can be safely
repaired and maintained.
1. Determine if the vehicle is equipped with cruise control.
In Cummins INSITE™, navigate to “Features and Parameters” and verify the status of Cruise
Control parameter.
