Technical Service Bulletin
1. Remove both front wheels.
2. Remove front brake calipers/brake carriers/brake discs.
3. Check both brake shields for front brake discs (Figure 1, number 1). Brake shields should be secured and
seated correctly.
4. If damage and/or excessive corrosion is found in the brake shields, replace it. If no damage/corrosion is found,
do not replace the brake shields (refer to the note below).
5. Install front brake calipers/brake carriers/brake discs.
6. Install front wheels.
Note: To protect the new brake shields for brake discs against corrosion at the mounting points (Figure 1,
red circles), wax must be applied all the way around the contact surfaces of the securing bolts (Figure 2) before
they are installed.
Use cavity preservative sealant (part number: D 329 215 M1) for this purpose.
