Information:
During service work and/or other repairs, traces of oil are found on the shock absorbers of the rear axle.
Information
Due to the production process, oil residues may be
present on the shock absorbers, which collect at the lower
end of the shock absorber and may appear there as oil
drops or oil traces. Traces of oil on rear axle shock
absorber.
This is neither a defect nor a malfunction of the shock
absorber.
Traces of oil on rear axle shock absorber
Action required: If oil drops or traces are present at the lower end of the shock absorber, the following measures are
therefore mandatory before replacing the shock absorber:

Clean soiled area.
Perform a test drive.
Re-evaluate shock absorbers.
If oil drops or traces are again present on the shock absorber during the subsequent assessment, check
the shock absorber for damage. Replacement of the shock absorber is only justified if oil drops or traces
are still present or if there is obvious damage.
