ISSUE
The complete Gear Shift Modules (GSM) are being replaced when there has been a claim reported of an appearance defect with the
Rotary Gear Selector (rotary control knob) , with issues such as peeling chrome and rough edges.
The Rotary Gear Selector can be replaced independently using a service kit
Service kit C2D38186 is available for XK150 12MY onwards & XJ351 10MY onwards
Service Kit C2Z8728 is available XK150 & XF250 pre 12MY
Service Kit C2Z29872 is available on XF250 12MY onwards
Cause
Rotary control knob being replaced due to poor appearance
Note: The Rotary control knob should only be replaced under warranty if the appearance is due to a manufacturing defect
Action
If the customer claims that there is a poor appearance of the rotary control knob it can be replaced using the Rotary Gear selector
service kit.
Removal procedure documented in the workshop manual section 307-05(A) Transmission control switch(TCS)knob
