In some cases the Input Speed Sensor (ISS) signal and the Output Speed Sensor (OSS) signal may also be missing. Please note this bulletin only addresses these conditions after the installation of a replacement upper valve body. Cause This condition may be caused by the installation of the incorrect upper valve body. Correction Important: Service agents must comply with all International, Federal, State, Provincial, and/or Local laws applicable to the activities it performs under this bulletin, including but not limited to handling, deploying, preparing, classifying, packaging, marking, labeling, and shipping dangerous goods. In the event of a conflict between the procedures set forth in this bulletin and the laws that apply to your dealership, you must follow those applicable laws. Upper valve bodies are unique by transmission RPO. Each upper valve body has four posts labeled A, B, C and D on the top side of the upper valve body. Inspect the upper valve body as shown below to determine the correct RPO usage. 4498516 The post corresponding to the correct RPO will be milled off. In this case the “C” post is milled indicating that this is an MYC upper valve body. A milled “A” post indicates MYA, a milled “B” indicates MYB, a milled “C” indicates MYC and a milled “D” indicates MYD. 4498528 Location of the four post shown above. 4498521 Bulletin No.: 16-NA-130 March, 2023 Page 3 The oil passage holes that feed the center support and Low and Reverse Clutch and 2-6 Clutch contained within the center support vary location by transmission and corresponding upper valve body. The ISS and OSS mounting locations also vary by transmission. The incorrect valve body does not properly locate the oil feed holes and speed sensors. Version 2 Modified Released April 27, 2016 Revised March 02, 2023 – Removed the Attention statement, added the 2017-2023 Model Years to certain Chevrolet and GMC models, added Involved Region or Country section to table and an Important statement. GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition.
