Bulletin No.: Service Bulletin Date: 23-NA-051 March, 2023 INFORMATION Subject: Brand: Chevrolet Information on New Cell Chemistry N2.2A Vehicle/Pack Identification Model: Model Year: from Bolt EV 2017 Bolt EUV 2022 VIN: to from to 2023 — — Engine: Transmission: All All Involved Region or Country North America Only Additional Options (RPOs) Equipped with RPO EKZ Condition Due to manufacturing changes in cell chemistry, certain 2023 Bolt EV and EUV vehicles will be built with N2.2A chemistry cells in the High Voltage Battery pack. N2.2A cells cannot be used in a vehicle designed for N2.2 cells, and N2.2 cells cannot be used in a vehicle designed for N2.2A cells. Additionally, cell chemistries cannot be mixed within a pack. An N2.2A CMA (section) cannot be put into an N2.2 pack, and vice versa. Cause Dealers must ensure the correct part number is ordered and installed in any vehicle receiving a replacement battery pack or battery section. Correction The Investigate Vehicle History (IVH) RPO list for each VIN will identify any vehicle that is built with N2.2A chemistry by having EKZ listed in the Vehicle Build section. EKZ was introduced as a mid-year change for the 2023 model year. All Bolt HV batteries have a label on their exterior designating either N2.2 or N2.2A chemistry. It is important to verify the correct chemistry is being installed into the vehicle both by part number and by looking at the label on the battery itself. When performing internal pack repair of individual sections or components, care must be taken to ensure N2.2 packs are only repaired with N2.2 sections, and N2.2A packs are only repaired with N2.2A sections. Two different cell chemistries can never be put in the same pack. Individual sections will have a label designating N2.2 or N2.2A. Service Procedure Important: Service agents must comply with all International, Federal, State, Provincial, and/or Local laws applicable to the activities it performs under this bulletin, including but not limited to handling, deploying, preparing, classifying, packaging, marking, labeling, and shipping dangerous goods. In the event of a conflict between the procedures set forth in this bulletin and the laws that apply to your dealership, you must follow those applicable laws. Important: This technical service bulletin (TSB) can only be completed by certified repair facilities who have met all specific training, tool and equipment requirements pertaining to the vehicle Brand and Model serviced. Repairs must be performed by a technician who has successfully completed the required training. 6300609 Copyright 2023 General Motors LLC. All Rights Reserved. Page 2 March, 2023 Bulletin No.: 23-NA-051 For N2.2A – Mid 2023 Model Year Inspect HV Battery label (similar label shown above) for N2.2A chemistry and verify vehicle has EKZ. For N2.2 – 2017-2023 Model Year (With recall completed) Inspect HV Battery label for N2.2 chemistry and verify vehicle does NOT have EKZ. Version 1 Modified Released March 20, 2023 GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition.
