The “SEEING IS BELIEVING”® mechanism on parts manufactured prior to March 7, 2023 may not
function as designed. The fuel level may not rise up the element to show how much filter life is left
or when to change the filter. The “SEEING IS BELIEVING”® functionality does not impact filter
performance, however, and the filter will continue to separate contaminates and protect the engine
as designed.
Recommended Actions:
For all filters manufactured prior to March 7, 2023, change the Stage 1 and Stage 2 filters at the
maximum service interval of 60,000 miles. If the low fuel system pressure light comes on in the cab
prior to the maximum service interval due to fuel quality or other factors, change the Stage 1 and
Stage 2 filters.
Continue to use the filters manufactured prior to March 7, 2023 per the above guidance on service
interval until the new parts are readily available in the market.

Fuel level would normally move up during service life
Filter Identification:
All filters have a manufacturing date code on the bottom end plate. The first two numbers
represent the year, the next three numbers represent the day of the year. Any filters that have the
first five numbers that are less than 23066 have been manufactured prior to March 7, 2023. Any
filters that have the first five numbers that are equal to or greater than 23066 have been
manufactured on or after March 7, 2023. The example below shows a filter manufactured on
January 14, 2023, with a date code of 23014.
