Concern regarding ev mode not being available when selected by the driver (phev engines)
5/2/23, 9:07 AM TOPIx - SSM75863 - Concern regarding EV Mode not being available when selected by the driver (PHEV Engines) Reference SSM75863 Models Defender / L663 Discovery Sport / L550 New Range Rover / L460 New Range Rover Evoque / L551 New Range Rover Sport / L461 Range Rover / L405 Range Rover Sport / L494 Range Rover Velar / L560 Title Concern regarding EV Mode not being available when selected by the driver (PHEV Engines) Category Electrical Last modified 27-Apr-2023 00:00:00 Symptom 206000 Warning Indicators Content L663, L560, L405, L494, L460, L461, L550, L551 PHEV powertrains only 2020-2023 MY Issue: The Electric Vehicle (EV) driving mode does not operate as expected when selected by the driver. In some cases: The EV driving mode will not be selectable The engine will start unexpectedly An ‘EV Mode not available’ warning will be displayed on the Instrument Panel Cluster. Cause: The most likely cause is due to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) air-fuel adaptions being in an incomplete state. This can occur following a recent PCM Software Over The Air (SOTA) update or after clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) stored within the PCM, which results in the adaptions being reset. The PCM needs to identify a variety of engine running conditions in order to re-learn the adaptions and therefore remove the engine start request, allowing the EV driving mode to operate as expected. Action: Complete the ‘PCM - Fuel Adaption Re-Initialization’ application in TOPIx Cloud Make sure the EV battery has sufficient State of Charge (SoC) and then drive the vehicle, periodically selecting the EV driving mode to confirm the concern has been resolved If the concern is still present, then refer to TOPIx Cloud Fault and Breakdown for further guidance. https://topix.landrover.jlrext.com/topix/content/document/view?id=1687873 1/2 5/2/23, 9:07 AM TOPIx - SSM75863 - Concern regarding EV Mode not being available when selected by the driver (PHEV Engines) NOTE: The ‘PCM - Fuel Adaption Re-Initialization’ application is only available for P6 PHEV vehicles. For P4 PHEV vehicles, the adaptions must be learned by driving the vehicle. The drive cycle must include the following scenarios: Steady cruise at a continuous speed Steady acceleration from a stationary position Overrun periods where the engine has the opportunity to enter the ‘Fuel-Cut’ state. anBhdHRlcnM7MjAyMy0wNS0wMlQxMzowNjo0MC4zMjlaOzEzNi4yMjYuNTIuODc7 https://topix.landrover.jlrext.com/topix/content/document/view?id=1687873 2/2
