Workshop findings: • When pulling away there is a one-off cracking noise from the front after changing direction. Technical Background Relative movement of the drive axle in the wheel bearings. Technical Service Bulletin Service 1. Follow instructions according to Elsa at Repair Manual, Chassis >> Suspension, Wheels, Steering >> 40 Front Suspension >> Front Axle >> Drive Axle >> Drive Axle Disassembling, Assembling. 2. Disassemble the affected drive axle. 3. Apply liquid locking fluid as shown in Figure 1 (red lines around the threaded connection). Figure 1. Apply locking fluid around the threaded connection. 4. Reinstall the drive axle according to ELSA instructions. Warning: After assembling the drive axle(s), the vehicle must not be operated for 8 hours.
