5/30/23, 1:19 PM Article Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P225C00 : NOx1 Sensor Stuck High US17+OBD2019 And Newer Emissions P225C00 is logged if the inlet NOx sensor (NOx1) stays above 50 parts per million (ppm) for longer than approximately 10 seconds during motoring of the engine (zero fuel injection). During motoring, the engine produces zero NOx. The time frame of 10 seconds is designated to help flush NOx out of the exhaust and to allow the sensor to read low values of NOx produced by the engine. Vehicles built for US17+OBD19 emissions and newer may log this code, and continue to do so after NOx sensor replacement. Condition P225C00 may be set on US17+OBD19 emissions and newer vehicles even when there is no issue with the NOx1 sensor. Every instance of P225C logged causes the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) to be lit. Once the MIL is lit, three drive cycles without the code recurring are required for the MIL to turn off. Diagnosis • Case 1 - If P225C00 is Inactive and no other NOx1 sensor or SCR system codes are logged: 1. DO NOT perform diagnostic steps. 2. DO NOT clear DTCs. 3. Release the vehicle. • Case 2 - If P225C00 is Active and no other NOx1 sensor or SCR system codes are logged: ; Live UI 1. DO clear DTCs. 3. Release the vehicle. • Case 3 - If P225C00 is logged Active or Inactive, and one or more additional NOx1 sensor code is logged, active or inactive: 1. Bypass diagnostic steps for P225C00 2. Troubleshoot the other NOx1 sensor DTC as per instructions in CBR as applicable, or diagnostic steps in Premium Tech Tool (PTT). • Case 4 - If P225C00 is logged Active or Inactive, and P20EE00 or P103C00 are logged indicating a possible SCR system issue: 1. Bypass diagnostic steps for P225C00 2. Troubleshoot P20EE00 and/or P103C00 using the applicable CBR solution. Repair • At this time, DO NOT replace a NOx1 sensor due to occurrences of P225C00. • A software release is currently planned for early 2021 with improvements for internal evaluation of the conditions that trigger P225C.
