Service Technical Information 69/22 ENU 3734 3 Oil Loss from the PDK Vent: Retrofitting Reservoir (69/22) Vehicle Type: 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 (982) / 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 (982) / 718 Cayman GT4 (982) / 718 Spyder (982) Model Year: As of 2020 up to 2021 Equipment: PDK transmission (I-no. 250) Concerns: PDK vent Information: Customers complain about oil loss from the double-clutch transmission (PDK) - particularly after sporty driving or after driving the vehicle on a race circuit. This can be caused by extreme centrifugal forces, which in unfavorable cases lead to oil leakage from the PDK vent. Oil loss from PDK vent Action: On vehicles from model year 2020 (L), retrofit the PDK vent reservoir. For instructions, see: Technical Information 'Retrofitting reservoir' On vehicles from model year 2021 (M), check PDK transmission number and either: • • Retrofit PDK vent reservoir Otherwise diagnose cause of oil loss For instructions, see: Technical Information 'Checking double clutch transmission number' Information In the current model year 2021 (M), double-clutch transmissions have been used in series production, which have an optimized shield on the PDK vent inside the transmission. This prevents oil from escaping as in the measure described here. Reservoir retrofitting is not intended for these vehicles. The cause of oil loss must therefore be otherwise diagnosed on these vehicles.
