Condition
Customer complains the Porsche Mobile Charger Plus (PMC+) shows all red LEDs and will not charge a vehicle.
The workshop confirms the customer complaint and finds the charger will not charge the vehicle.
Connecting the PMC+ to special tool VAS 611 009 and the PIWIS Tester application Diagnostics --> External
Equipment --> Fault Codes reveals B191E49 (DTC 100102) “Universal charging cable – internal electrical fault”.
Technical Background
The PMC+ performs continuous self-monitoring. If the PMC+ repeatedly
detects an issue while charging, then fault B191E49 (DTC 100102) is set
as Active. The device then stops charging as a precaution, and all LEDs are
illuminated red. The LEDs will remain red – even after unplugging and
plugging back in – until the device is reset.
Such issues can be caused by infrastructure problems (e.g. poor ground
connection in the home), errors in the On-Board Charger of the vehicle, or
internal faults of the PMC+. Therefore, it is recommended to test the PMC+
on multiple circuits and multiple vehicles.

Service Information
Refer to the Porsche Mobile Charger Plus Owner’s Manual for information on device operation and Malfunction de-
tection of the PMC+.
Errors can be stored in the charger for various reasons.
•
Infrastructure problems (e.g. poor ground connection in the home)
•
Faults or issues in the On-Board Charger of the vehicle
•
Internal faults of the device itself.
Therefore, it is recommended to test the PMC+ on multiple circuits and multiple vehicles.
1.
Connect the PMC+ to the wall outlet and wait approximately 15 seconds for the charger to power up.
2.
Cancel the error stored in the device.

•
Press and hold the multifunction button (minimum 2 seconds). All lights should cycle off and back

on as the device resets and the error stored in the device is cleared.
3.
Check the charger for normal operation; check that the device successfully charges multiple vehicles.

•
If all LEDs again light up red after the reset

a.
Connect a different supply cable; plug in the device; reset the device as described in Step 2
				above; check operation.

b.
Connect the charger and supply cable to another receptacle on a different infrastructure
branch circuit; reset the device as described in Step 2 above; check operation.
4.
If all LEDs light up red following a change of the supply cable and different infrastructure along with a device

reset, then the PMC+ will require replacement.
Warranty
As always, please document the repair completely in PQIS.
