Model(s) Year VIN Range Vehicle-Specific Equipment All Not applicable e-tron quattro, etron Sportback 2023 – 2024 quattro, and etron S quattro Q8 e-tron quattro, Q8 etron Sportback quattro, SQ8 etron quattro, and SQ8 e-tron Sportback quattro 2024 Condition Customer states: • DC charging does not start. • LED on charging socket pulsates in white. • Complaint can be reproduced repeatedly at the same charging station. • AC charging works without any issues. Workshop findings: • The vehicle’s Plug & Charge function is activated. The following DTC and symptom code combination is stored in the Control Module for High-voltage battery charger, -J1050- (address word 00C6): • U15AF00: Fast battery charging (DC) Charging station encoding failed with symptom 2097297 (passive/intermittent). Technical Background Some DC charging stations claim to be compatible with vehicles that wish to use the Plug & Charge function. However, not all DC charging stations have received a software update that enables this function. For this reason, some charging stations may not start the charging process when the Plug & Charge function is switched on. Service This TSB only applies if the criteria specified under “Workshop findings" are fulfilled. • As soon as the Plug & Charge function is switched off, charging at the affected charging stations is possible again without issues. • Parts replacement does not solve this issue. Claims for replaced parts will be subject to review. • This is not a fault with the vehicle; the issue is caused by software of the charging station not having been updated.
