Service Technical Information 28/23 ENU 2470 2 Complaint - Check Engine Warning Light Active in Conjunction with Fault Memory Entry “P2D8F00, P168D00” and/or “P25AC00” in the DME Control Unit (28/23) Revision: This bulletin replaces bulletin Group 2 28/23, dated May 30, 2023. Model Year: As of 2019 up to 2023 Vehicle Type: Cayenne (9YA) / Cayenne S (9YA) / Cayenne Coupé (9YB) / Cayenne S Coupé (9YB) / Cayenne E-Hybrid (9YA) / Cayenne E-Hybrid Coupé (9YB) Concerns: DME control unit Cause: The “Engine control fault” warning message will be displayed in the instrument cluster. One or multiple of the following fault memory entries is stored in the DME control unit fault memory: • • • Action: P2D8F00 - Oil pressure switch – signal implausible (0048AE) P168D00 - Oil pressure switch - Signal implausible (0048AC) P25AC00 - Oil pressure switch – signal implausible (0048AC) In the event of a customer complaint, re-program the engine electronics (DME) control unit using the latest PIWIS Tester. Information The minimum coding requirement is the PIWIS Tester software version 41.750.050 Information Replacing the oil pressure switch is not effective for this error pattern. Required tools Tools: • • P90999 - PIWIS Tester 4 Battery charger with a current rating of at least 90 A, e.g. VAS 5908 battery charger 90A. For further information about the battery chargers to be used, see the corresponding Workshop Manual. Workshop Manual '270689 Charging vehicle electrical system and battery' Re-program engine electronics (DME) control unit Work Procedure: 1 The basic work procedure for programming a control unit is described in the Workshop Manual Workshop Manual '9X00IN Basic instructions and procedure for control unit programming using the PIWIS Tester - section on “Programming”'. Specific information on control unit programming in the context of this Technical Information: AfterSales Sep 25, 2023 Page 1 of 4 2 Service 2470 ENU Technical Information 28/23 Required PIWIS Tester software version: 41.750.050 (or higher) Type of control unit programming: Control unit programming using the ‘Automatic programming’ function of the DME control unit. ‘Engine electronics (DME)’ control unit – ‘Coding/programming’ menu – ‘Automatic programming’ function. Read and follow the information and instructions on the PIWIS Tester during the guided programming sequence. During programming, the DME control unit is re-programmed and then automaticallyrecoded. Programming sequence: Do not interrupt programming and coding. Once the control units have been programmed and coded, you will be prompted to switch the ignition off and then back on again after a certain waiting time. Backup documentation of the new software versions is then performed. 2 Programming time (approx.): Programming takes up to 15 minutes, depending on equipment. Data set for the motor electronics (DME) programmed as part of this programming: See section Technical Information '9X00IN Overview of programmed DME data sets'. Procedure in the event of error messages appearing during the programming sequence: Workshop Manual '9X00IN Basic instructions and Procedure in the event of a termination in the control unit programming: Repeat control unit programming by restarting programming. procedure for control unit programming using the PIWIS Tester - section on “Troubleshooting”'. Carry out general reworking for control unit programming as described in Workshop Manual '9X00IN Basic instructions and work procedure for control unit programming using the PIWIS Tester Reworking section'. Overview of programmed DME data records Overview: Information The software part number and software version of the programmed data record are based on the specified PIWIS Tester test software version. Please note that this may be different in a higher version.
