Condition
Customer states:
• The airbag warning light is on.
Workshop findings:
The following DTC or DTCs are stored in the airbag control module, -J234- (address word 0015):
• DTC B100B1B: Driver thorax airbag igniter Resistance too high.
• DTC B100A1B: Front passenger side airbag igniter Resistance too high.
Technical Background
The wire harness of the side/thorax airbag is too close to the seat foam. The seat foam presses on the wire
harness causing movement of the airbag connector, resulting in an increase in electrical resistance.
Production Solution
The optimization will be implemented in series production.
Service
1. Replace the affected side/thorax airbag wire harness(es) according to: Elsa>>Repair
manual>>Body>>Body Interior>>Passenger Protection, Airbags, Seat Belts>>Thorax
Airbags>>Thorax Airbag Wire, Removing and Installing.
2. Route the new thorax airbag wire harness(es) as close to the seat frame as possible. To do so, use
zip tie/clip N10546701 (Figures 1, 2).
Tip: The clip in the photo is not identical with the clip to be used.
