This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or after May 5, 2022
(MDH0503XX) and on and before November 7, 2022 (MDH1107XX)
equipped with the 2.0L I4 Turbo Diesel Engine (Sales Code EBT).

Coolant hose not secured in its retainer.

This Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) has also been released as a Rapid Service Update (RSU)
23-041, date of issue February 15, 2023. All applicable Sold and UnSold RSU VINs have been loaded.
To verify this RSU service action is applicable to the vehicle, use VIP or perform a VIN search in
DealerCONNECT/Service Library. All repairs are reimbursable within the provisions of warranty. This
RSU will expire 18 months after the date of issue.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE:
Using a Scan Tool (wiTECH) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available in DealerCONNECT/
Service Library, verify all related systems are functioning as designed. If DTCs or symptom conditions, other
than the ones listed above are present, record the issues on the repair order and repair as necessary
before proceeding further with this bulletin.
If a customer’s VIN is listed in VIP or your RSU VIN list, perform the Inspection Procedure. This RSU only
applies to vehicles on the RSU VIN list.
1. Open the hood and remove the radiator close out panel (Fig. 1) .

2. Inspect the hose condition and position. Hose retainer is on fan shroud. White tape is applied on the
area that locks into the retainer. (Fig. 2) , (Fig. 3) .

3. Inspect the hose for damage from the exhaust heat shield.
4. Is the hose damaged from contact with the exhaust heat shield?

YES>>> Proceed to Step 1 of the Repair Procedure.
NO>>> Proceed to Step 5 of the Inspection Procedure.
Inspect the hose that it is secure in the retainer.
Is the hose securely retained (Fig. 4) ?

• YES>>>This bulletin has been completed, use inspect LOP (07-30-02-A1) to close the active RSU.
• NO>>>Secure hose in retainer (Fig. 4) . Use inspect and Reposition LOP (07-30-02-A2) to close the
active RSU.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Replace hose:
a. Remove engine belly pan. Refer to the detailed service procedures listed in
DealerCONNECT>Service Library under: 13 - Frame and Bumpers / Under Body Protection / Belly
Pan / Removal
b. Drain cooling system. Refer to the detailed service procedures listed in DealerCONNECT>Service
Library under: 07 - Cooling / Standard Procedure.
c. Disconnect lower radiator hose quick disconnect at radiator. (Fig. 5) .

e. Remove hose from hose retainers. (Fig. 7)

f. Disconnect lower radiator hose clamp at cylinder head. (Fig. 8) .

g. Remove hose assembly.
2. Install new hose assembly.
a. Install hose into hose retainers.
b. Connect lower radiator hose clamp at engine.
c. Connect lower radiator hose quick disconnect at radiator.
d. Connect quick disconnect at lower coolant reservoir.
e. Refill cooling system. Refer to the detailed service procedures listed in DealerCONNECT>Service
Library under: 07 - Cooling / Standard Procedure.
f. Install engine belly pan. Refer to the detailed service procedures listed in DealerCONNECT>Service
Library under: 13 - Frame and Bumpers / Under Body Protection / Belly Pan / Installation
