International, Federal, State, Provincial, and/or
Local laws applicable to the activities it performs
under this bulletin, including but not limited to

Effective January 1, 2024 (U.S.) and February 15, 2024
(Canada), GM is changing part of the process for
Lithium-Ion battery packs and modules (sections and
kits) used for warranty and recall repairs. Rather than
dealers exchanging battery packs/modules with no
upfront cost and receiving an administrative allowance
upon job completion, dealers will now order and pay for
battery packs/modules upfront and receive their
approved parts markup based on the Dealer price that
will now be published in GM’s Electronic Parts Catalog
(EPC) upon submission of a claim in accordance with
GM’s Service Policies & Procedure Manual.
This enhanced structure will help further customer EV
adoption by making repairs for battery packs/modules
affordable for customers in the event a retail repair is
required. The availability of affordable EV repairs will
also help drive these customers back to GM
dealerships for their service needs.
New Interim Additional Labor
Compensation
To respond to concerns raised that dealerships are
learning new technology and new processes related to
the continued EV transition, including developing
efficient repair, safety, return, and other associated
processes, GM will provide dealers with the ability to
claim up to $500 ($624 in Canada) in additional labor

on all job cards for battery pack/module replacements.
This Interim Additional Labor Compensation is intended
to be phased out over time and will be reevaluated after
June 30, 2024. During this acclimation period, dealers
are encouraged to take advantage of the job time study
amendment process to provide feedback if tasks are
consistently taking longer than the times listed in GM's
time guide.
Ordering
The logistics behind the Lithium-Ion exchange program
will remain in place: dealers will still order the subject
Lithium-Ion battery packs and modules through GM’s
authorized Battery Service Centers (BSCs), all orders
must be for an existing VIN requiring service, and these
orders must still be pre-approved through the GM
Technical Assistance Center (TAC). Once approved
through TAC, contact the following for part exchange:
• U.S Dealers (Ultium Vehicles): Contact Label
Master via Global Connect, EV High Voltage
Battery Orders & Returns, Label Master Portal or
1-844-931-4966.
• U.S. Dealers (Non-Ultium Vehicles): Contact
Speirs New Technologies via Global Connect, EV
High Voltage Battery Orders & Returns, SNT
ALFRED portal or (833) 334-6272.
• Canada Dealers: Contact York Electronic at (888)
650-9675. York Electronics is the GM authorized
Battery Service Center (BSC) in Canada.
The Battery Service Center (BSC) will notify GM of the
order which will generate an invoice to the dealer for
the cost of the Lithium-Ion battery or module based on
current catalog pricing.

Battery Returns and Core
Non-Return Fee
The expeditious return of existing Lithium-Ion battery
packs/modules is imperative for purposes of:
• Ensuring proper root cause analysis for future
product improvements.
• Reducing potential environmental impact by
allowing GM or its vendors to properly
remanufacture or recycle the returned Lithium-Ion
battery packs/modules.
•
Promoting consumer and dealership technician
safety by returning these Lithium-Ion battery
packs/modules to properly trained individuals for
repair, reconditioning or recycling.
• Creating additional supply of remanufactured
Lithium-Ion battery packs/modules to address
increasing demand.
If a dealer does not return the Lithium-Ion battery
packs/modules removed from the vehicle within 30
days, they will be charged a core non-return fee in the
amount published by GM.

GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these
technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper
service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a
job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your
vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the
information.
