Technical Service Bulletin 35 Gearbox Malfunction Warning, DTC, P176F00, P176E00, P175E00, P175D00 in the TCM 35 24 49 2073330/1 March 13, 2024. Model(s) Year A3, and A3 Cabriolet 2017 - 2018 S3 2018 VIN Range Vehicle-Specific Equipment All Not Applicable Condition Customer states: • Gearbox warning indicated in instrument cluster. Workshop findings: One or more of the following DTC(s) may be logged in the transmission control module (TCM), -J217- (address word 0002): • DTC P175E00 (clutch 1 closes unintentionally) And/or • DTC P176F00 (clutch 2 closes unintentionally) And/or • DTC P176E00 (clutch 2 opens unintentionally) And/or • DTC P175D00 (clutch 1 opens unintentionally) Various other DTCs may also be logged with the above DTCs in the transmission control module (TCM), -J217(address word 0002). Technical Background Not applicable. Production Solution Not applicable. Service One or several of the following DTCs can be logged in the diagnosis log in address word 0002 - gearbox electronics. Technical Service Bulletin DTC Symptom Code Fault Type 2 Frequency P175E00 clutch 1 closes unintentionally 10747 passive/sporadic maximum 2 P176F00 clutch 2 closes unintentionally 10748 passive/sporadic maximum 2 P176E00 clutch 2 opens unintentionally 10694 passive/sporadic maximum 2 If the above DTCs match exactly in symptom and fault type 2 and have a maximum frequency of 2 in the diagnosis log, delete all DTCs in address word 0002 - gearbox electronics. Reassess the complaint and check whether the DTC is logged again. If the complaint is gone, no further repairs are necessary. If the above DTCs do not match exactly in symptom, fault type 2, and frequency, this TSB does not apply. Proceed according to the Guided Fault Finding.
