MC20 Cielo – Gearbox Oil Leak Check

Certain Maserati MC20 (M240) Cielo MY23 MY24 listed in MODISCS+ are involved in a Rapid
Update to address potential oil leaks that may present themselves during the use of the vehicle.
Some vehicles may have been fitted with components that could potentially leak. However,
this does not affect the functionality of the component and should be considered exclusively as
an aesthetic defect.
To ensure the quality of Maserati vehicles, we ask you to replace the components indicated in
the VIN List with the aim of avoiding any possible anomaly in the future.
We remind you that all the Rapid Updates must be performed within the first workshop visit,
regardless of the Mandatory setting set in Modis, as required by Maserati policies.
Also, for vehicles in Stock Dealer / PDI, it is necessary to carry out all action operations before
delivery to the end customer, as required by the White Book and explicitly reported in the Predelivery checklist.
Please read and review this bulletin first before ordering parts and/or starting the procedure.

2. Perform the DTCM purge cycle procedure as instructed on page 4 of this bulletin to ensure that
there are no residual leaks
Gearbox Replacement
1. Due to a potential oil leak around the differential area of the gearbox, it is necessary to replace
the entire gearbox assembly following the instructions outlined in the workshop manual.
IMPORTANT READ THE WORKSHOP MANUAL COMPLETELY BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THE REPLACEMENT.

Perform the DTCM purge cycle procedure as instructed on page 4 of this bulletin to ensure that
there are no residual leaks
TECH TIP: Before installing the new Gearbox
into the vehicle, take a clear picture of the
QR code tag located on top of the gearbox
as it may not be accessible/visible once
installed after finishing the replacement. The
QR code is needed to “Register” the new
Gearbox to the vehicle using the EVO. (See
the workshop manual for details)

IMPORTANT: For this action it is necessary to use only new components that have a recognition
mark as shown in the following image. The use of unmarked components does not guarantee
the success of the operation.
Use the EVO to perform the DTCM purge cycle procedure via “Active Diagnosis” Tab.
1.
Before proceeding, ensure that the following preconditions are met:
a. Engine running.
b. Brake pedal fully depressed.
Warning: if the brake pedal is released, the procedure will stop immediately.
c. Change to N.
d. Parking brake ON.
2.
Select: DCTM ►Active Diagnosis ►Transmission Cleaning Procedure (Purge Cycle).
Note: The engine will increase to 3000 rpm for approximately 15 minutes.
3.
The cycle can be considered completed when the engine returns to idle.
Note: No message will appear automatically. When the engine returns to idle, press
"Update" to see if the “Success” message appears.
Note 2: Release the brake pedal ONLY if the “Success” message appears.
4.
Repeat the procedure 3 (three) more times.
5.
Procedure complete.
