Customer states:
• There is a warning message regarding a failure of the rear lighting displayed in the instrument cluster.
A6, A7, and A8:
• The rear lighting operates properly.
Q5:
• The rear lighting function is switched to the lower bumper as if the trunk is open.
Workshop findings:
One or more of the following DTCs are stored as static or sporadic in the comfort system central control module,
J393 (address word 0046):
• DTC B12C315 (Right brake light bulb, interruption/short circuit to positive).
• DTC B12C215 (Left brake light bulb, interruption/short circuit to positive).
• DTC B133A15 (Bulb for left brake and tail light, interruption/short circuit to positive).
• DTC B133C15 (Bulb for right brake and tail light, interruption/short circuit to positive).

• DTC B12BE15 (Left tail light bulb, interruption/short circuit to positive).
• DTC B12BF15 (Right tail light bulb, interruption/short circuit to positive).
• DTC B12C615 (Bulb for high-level brake light, interruption/short circuit to positive).
Technical Background
A loss of communication between the internal components of the comfort system central control module, J393
(address word 0046) can result in the warning and faults displayed.
Production Solution
Optimized software is now available for the comfort system central control module, J393 (address word 0046).

SVM Update Instructions
1. Follow all instructions in TSB 2011732: 00 Software Version Management (SVM), operating instructions.
2. Update the comfort system central control module, J393 (address word 0046) using the SVM action code as
listed in the table below, if necessary:
